Testing Program

SHARE Education Services offers achievement and diagnostic testing throughout the year at conferences, in our offices by appointment and by special arrangement when we travel to your area.  Our testing program is designed to evaluate native English-speaking students or multilingual students with very strong English skills. These tests are intended to be administered to U.S. students and may not accurately evaluate students from other passport countries.

For Students from Canada, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and other English-speaking countries:

Information regarding testing that is appropriate for children from these countries is available by referral to country-specific educators.

For Students with ESL (English as a Second Language) Skills:

The tests below may be useful for students who wish to generally assess their English skills in comparison to age-mates in the U.S.  Because of culturally-biased questions and the use of American English only, these tests may not produce a true assessment of a student’s English skills.

For U.S. Students:

The following tests are appropriate for U.S. children or those who will be entering the U.S. university system.

Early Reading Diagnostic Assessment (grades K-2)

price for sponsoring agencies: $20; non-sponsoring agencies: $30; other expats as space allows: $40

This test provides information on the development of skills your child needs to become a successful reader.  These skills include phonemic and phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Test of Basic Skills (grades 3-8)

price for sponsoring agencies: $40; non-sponsoring agencies: $60; other expats as space allows: $80

SHARE offers achievement testing using the ITBS to assess whether your child is “on track” with his or her age mates. These tests offer assessment in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics.  The test is appropriate for those families who require or would like annual testing.  In addition to conference venues throughout the year, this test is offered annually in our Budapest office in early May.

Woodcock Johnson III Tests of Achievement (struggling learners: grades 3-12)

price for sponsoring agencies: $100; non-sponsoring agencies: $120; other expats as space allows: $200

If you have observed your child struggling to achieve in the areas of reading, writing, or mathematics, this test is appropriate for bringing to light areas of strength and weakness.  In some instances, these tests may identify areas that need special attention or further assessment.  However, this test alone does not diagnose learning disabilities. You will receive a score report as well as recommendations and suggestions at your consult with SHARE staff.

Woodcock Johnson III Tests of Achievement (grades 9-10)

price for sponsoring agencies: $40; non-sponsoring agencies: $60; other expats as space allows: $80

This option is offered if annual testing is required for your grade 9 or 10 student.  The WJIII will help you determine if your child is “on track” with other students his or her age in the areas of reading, writing, and math.  All other grade 9 and 10 students should be preparing for university entry exams by taking the appropriate practice tests either online or through printed resources.  Counsel regarding which exams are required for entry into U.S. universities and when to take them is available upon request.

Diagnostic Educational Assessment (all grades)

price for sponsoring agencies: $150 ; non-sponsoring agencies: $250; other expats as space allows: $400

If you have seen your child experience significant struggles in learning, attention, or other areas that affect his/her education, diagnostic testing is available.  Please be aware that, due to the types of tests used, this testing is most appropriate for U.S students.  Diagnostic testing is only available on an occasional basis and space is limited.  Contact us for more information.  If you will be in the U.S. and would like assistance in finding an educational psychologist who can do appropriate testing for your child, please contact us for referrals
