SHARE Hungary Virtual Family Education Conference

Your friends at SHARE Education Services have been working hard to bring a virtual alternative to our usual Hungary conference and we are happy to announce that on February 24-28, 2021, we will offer a virtual conference for all family members!

The adults will experience interactive webinars and virtual coffee breaks, and the teens and children will have sessions of their own. This will be a much more compact conference and our goal is not just information but new and renewed relationships with colleagues and friends. Sessions will take place in the afternoons CET for the adults and children and early evenings for the teens.

Adult Program:

Each day, the conference will begin with a time of worship led by Tyler and Bailey Dodds.

Our plenary sessions will feature Tim Sanford. Tim is a licensed professional counselor and the Clinical Director of Counseling Services for Focus on the Family’s counseling department. He is also a pastor, a public speaker and the author of several books, the most recent being Forgive for Real: Six Steps to Forgiving. Tim and his wife Becky have two grown daughters and reside in Colorado. Tim is an adult TCK who grew up in Ecuador. His topic will help parents understand how to encourage and guide children in their unique circumstances as TCKs. For more info on Tim, check out: https://www.alifeoverseas.com/a-conversation-with-timothy-sanford-author-of-i-have-to-be-perfect/

Interactive workshops will be offered by:

Dr. Jonathan Feicht on “Encouraging a Growth Mindset in our Children”
Julie Feicht on “Ideas and Resources for the Preschool Years”
Emily Mangels on “University Planning and Applications in a Changing World”
Dr. Jean Kawiecki on “Anxiety in TCKs in This Unusual Time”
Dr. Melissa Shipman on “Helping Generation Z Cope with our Changing Culture”
Pamela Anderson on “Why Won’t My Kids Listen to Me?”

Coffee Breaks:

Some of our friends who come regularly to the Hungary conference will be with us just to chat and encourage you!
Dr. Shawn & Gayly Conard
Dave & Janet Kronbach
Tyler & Bailey Dodds
And on the last day, the entire SHARE staff will be online to chat and connect!

Teen Program:

Calling all teens! Just because we can’t meet face-to-face, doesn’t mean we can’t  enjoy speakers, play games, catch up with friends, and meet new ones. Teens will have Bible discussions and sessions with a variety of speakers. We also hope to do something special for the graduating seniors. Times and days are TBA.

Children’s Program:

Calling SHARE children aged 6-12! Botanist Beth and Professor Pam need your help in convincing Baker Kay to preserve the rainforest. Join us for a virtual program focused on what we can do to help save the rainforest. There will be singing, thinking, problem solving and fun.

Activities for this 1-½ hour session on Saturday, 27 February:

    • singing along with music videos used during openings at FEC
    • large group – sharing content
    • small group – problem solving
    • links sent ahead of time with basic information and simple activities

Assessment & Evaluation:

Online options are available to help meet your family’s testing needs.  Since we cannot meet in person for the Family Education Conference to offer achievement testing, we recommend the online Iowa Assessments™ from BJUPress Homeschool for grades K-12.  (For homeschooling families.  More information about signing up for testing and regarding testing for families with children in national schools will be available at the time of registration.)  After testing is complete and you have received the test results, we would be happy to set a consultation to go over the results with you.

If you would like specialized testing (PsychoEducational Assessment, Speech/Language, Occupational Therapy or Dyslexia) for your child, please feel free to contact us by completing the consultation questionnaire: Consultation Questionnaire.  We may be able to connect you with someone who can help.

How to register:

Registration will begin on 15 January and end on 19 February at midnight. We hope you will join us for a time of encouragement and connection with families you usually see in Hungary or, if this is your first SHARE conference, to begin new relationships that will grow at future in-person conferences.

We are also pleased to announce:

The 2021 Greece Family Education Conference is coming with plenary sessions, worship time, and great workshop presentations.  Decisions about virtual or face-to-face will be made by February 1, 2021.  Once that decision is made, dates and times will be determined.
